ABOUT ME

I knew I was an artist from a very young age. It was in my genes - my dad, a professional photographer and my mom, an oil painter. I wanted to be a graphic designer. I only applied to one university - East Carolina University because it was known for having the best art school in the North Carolina, where I was born and raised. I graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. But I did it all while there - photography, figure drawing, jewelry making, textile art, architecture, interior design, pottery, metalwork, art history, glasswork, painting, color theory...you name it - I had at least one class in it!

In the last 30+ years, I've worked a multitude of jobs in the industry as a graphic designer/art director and marketing manager - direct mail advertising firm, in-house marketing department at a corporate telecommunications company, the state of NC, a wholesale food distributor, a family owned printing company, an advertising firm, a hospital system and freelancer. After my kids were born, I totally changed careers and became a personal trainer, spinning instructor, health coach and fitness nutrition specialist.

Along the way, I've dabbled in different artsy mediums to feed my creative soul. I have a passion for pottery and would love to get back into that! But a few years ago as the world was coming out of its covid cocoon, I took a class offered by my friend Katie Gruntz at her sister's gallery/shop called The Wild Osprey in Mandeville, LA on wet felting and I was hooked!

I love the bright colors of the fibers. I love creating artful wool fabric from fibers with my own hands. I love adding dimension with hand stitching and beadwork.

It's great to have found a medium that feeds my creative soul as an adult!

I have lived in the Greater New Orleans area for close to 30 years, now residing in Mandeville, LA with my husband, Michael, my college-aged twin man-children, and two dogs - Scout and Stella.
