Serious Artist Imposter Syndrome Currently in My Head

I am absolutely thrilled that my artwork has been accepted into three national juried art shows and competitions, and has received finalist and an honorable mention awards in two international online juried competitions.


However, a significant part of me is starting to question my worthiness. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it.


It's got me wondering...


-> Are artists simply not applying to shows, leaving galleries eager for work? (Perhaps the shows aren't well-marketed, artists lack inventory to submit—which is my current situation—or the costs of application fees and shipping art, depending on the distance, are too high, among other reasons)


-> Or perhaps artists submit their work to juried art shows primarily at the beginning of their careers to validate their skill and worthiness, among other reasons. Consequently, more established artists might not apply?


-> Is my work truly that unique?


All of this has my mind swirling with imposter syndrome. There must be some logical reason why they selected my work.


Whatever the reason, I'm incredibly honored to be invited to exhibit!


Here are the shows where my art will be hanging over the next few months:



BIG CHIEF

Exhibition: "New Orleans in Art: A Love Letter from the Crescent City"

RW Norton Art Gallery (an absolute gem & really more of a museum)

4747 Creswell Ave, Shreveport, LA

Exhibition Dates: August 28 - November 23

Opening Reception: Thursday, August 28 from 5-7 pm

Opening Thursday, August 28, this vibrant show features the work of 50 incredible artists—each one sharing their personal love story with New Orleans. From the soulful streets of the French Quarter to the rhythm of second lines and the glow of gas lamps, this exhibition is a celebration of the spirit, color, and heart of the Crescent City.

Reception & Awards Presentation: Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 6-8 pm

Lake Granbury Art Association’s Long-Standing Juried Art Show Draws Artists From Across the Nation. Over $4000 in Prize Money to Be Awarded.

Whether you’re an artist or art lover, 2025’s The Fall Show presented by the non-profit Lake Granbury Art Association is not to be missed. With broad appeal for all age levels, this juried show encompasses a wide range of subject matter, media, and style. Drawing, painting, sculpture, assemblage and more from photo realistic to abstract can be seen...and purchased. All work is for sale. Local, regional, and national artists are expected to be represented. The Fall Show opens on Saturday, August 30th at the Shanley House Gallery. Don’t miss your opportunity to meet the artists on Saturday, September 20th from 6-8pm during a reception and awards presentation The show will be open during Granbury’s Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts (Oct 25-26) closing that Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 4pm.

Exhibition: Summer Juried Art Show

4747 Creswell Ave, Shreveport, LA

Exhibition Dates: September 15 - October 5

Opening Reception: Monday, September 15 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM


41 artworks from artists residing in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi capturing and conveying the essence of "Summer" in creative and imaginative ways - whether through landscapes, abstract interpretations, or other conceptual pieces. This exhibit will hang in the beautiful Orville J. Hanchey Gallery on the campus of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, in Natchitoches.
