ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Bajo La Luna Mexicana is a self-portrait inspired by Día de los Muertos and named after a song by one of my longtime favorite bands, Concrete Blonde. Lead singer Johnette Napolitano’s use of Catrina imagery—and my own long-standing fascination with it—inspired this celebration of remembrance, spirit, music, and identity.
The original artwork was created entirely with fiber and mixed media—no paint. I combined wet and Nuno felting, needle felting, merino wool, silk, bamboo, viscose, art yarns, mohair locks, beads, rhinestones, and hand-formed dimensional rosettes to build its rich color, texture, and detail.
The moon pendant at her throat nods to the song that gave the artwork its name, Bajo La Luna Mexicana — “Under the Mexican Moon.”
ABOUT YOUR FINE ART PRINT
Each 12" × 16" reproduction is professionally produced by RevisArt using archival pigment inks on Sunset Cold Press Textured Fine Art Paper, selected to beautifully reproduce the rich color, detail, and tactile character of the original fiber artwork.
The image is cropped from the original artwork’s organic fiber edges to create a clean 12" × 16" print. It is professionally presented in an acid-free 16" × 20" archival mat and enclosed in an archival-grade clear protective sleeve.
Each print includes a Certificate of Authenticity signed by artist Jennifer "Jen" Morgan and arrives ready to place in a standard 16" × 20" frame.
